What kind of candidate are we looking for?

GLOW works exclusively with forward-thinking, under-represented individuals looking to enter local government for the first time. If you align with the GLOW values, we'd love to hear from you.

Social and Climate Justice
We help people who focus on pro-social, economic and urban design decisions; who acknowledge that climate change is real and we have a collective responsibility to take urgent action.

That being said: We are NOT the purity police. A candidate in Whangarei is different to a candidate in Bluff. We help people run for the places they’re in.

Diverse
We work with candidates from all backgrounds - women, Pasifika, Tangata Whenua, LGBTQI, teachers, scientists, activists, artists, musicians and mums. If you are passionate about making a difference, we will support you.

Open Minded
We are here to coach and support you, however there will be moments of challenge within office. Having an open mind is a great gift that will serve you well.

Connected
We’re looking for people with deep ties to their community, who are already in their area — volunteering, organizing, mentoring, and doing the mahi.
